Week in review: Orphan status, Demodex drug, embedded eyelash

This week, the FDA awards orphan drug designation to a nonviral gene therapy for retinitis pigmentosa, a novel eye drop for Demodex blepharitis shines in phase 2 trials and an eyelash embedded in the retina causes ocular inflammation.
